Quick Answer

Where can I get an Ayurvedic massage in Amritsar?

Dr Abrol Ayurveda on Batala Road, Amritsar offers traditional Ayurvedic massage therapies such as Abhyangam, Pizhichil, Njavarakizhi, Udvartana and Patra Pinda Sweda. Each therapy is chosen by Dr. Amita Abrol after a short consultation, using medicated oils or herbal powders suited to your body type and health.

An Ayurvedic massage is not the same as a spa massage. The oil is chosen for your body type and your problem - a stiff back, poor sleep, heavy legs, dry skin - and the strokes, pressure and timing follow classical Kerala Panchakarma methods.

At our clinic, every massage starts with a short consultation. Dr. Amita Abrol checks what you need and whether any therapy should be avoided - for example during fever, an acute infection or pregnancy. Then a trained therapist carries out the treatment in a private treatment room.

People come to us for very different reasons: back and joint pain, stress and poor sleep, weight and sluggish metabolism, or simply a proper reset after months of desk work. Some come for a single session; others book a course of 7 sessions, which is what we recommend for most therapies.

Specialised Care

Treatment Areas

Back, Neck and Joint Pain

Abhyangam with Kati Basti, Greeva Basti, Janu Basti or Patra Pinda Sweda - warm oil and herbal heat for stiff, painful areas.

Stress and Poor Sleep

Abhyangam, Shirodhara and head massage to calm the nervous system - the therapies most people book when they cannot switch off.

Weight and Sluggishness

Udvartana - a firm, upward massage with dry herbal powders - is used for heaviness, water retention and a slow metabolism.

Weak, Tired Muscles

Njavarakizhi and Pizhichil nourish the muscles and are traditionally used during recovery and for general weakness.

Our Method

Our Comprehensive Healing Method

Short consultation

Tell us about your health, any pain or injuries, and whether you are pregnant or unwell. Dr. Abrol recommends the therapy and oil.

The therapy

A trained therapist carries out the massage in a private room. Most people are surprised how warm and unhurried it feels.

Steam, if advised

Swedanam (herbal steam) is often given after oil therapies to help the oil work deeper.

Aftercare

Rest a little, avoid cold drinks and cold air, and eat a light, warm meal. Wash the oil off with lukewarm water - not cold.
