About Dr. Abrol

Knee pain - discomfort, soreness, swelling, or stiffness with reduced movement in one or both knees - is one of the most common joint problems affecting people of all ages. It can begin as mild discomfort and gradually develop into persistent pain that interferes with climbing stairs, bending, or sitting comfortably.

In Ayurveda, knee pain is referred to as 'Sandhivata' - from 'Sandhi' (joint) and 'Vata', the dosha responsible for movement and nerve function in the body. Knee pain is mainly linked to a Vata imbalance, which controls joint motion and lubrication. Imbalance leads to joint dryness, stiffness, and pain, often worsened by stress, irregular routines, unhealthy food, and ageing, alongside the buildup of Ama (digestive toxins).
